This course is fast-paced, ambitious and exciting! It introduces and applies many of the same wilderness and survival skills as the first course, while building the challenge and sense of discovery with more advanced climbing and rope skills, whitewater safety, team survival tactics, foul weather survival preparation, use of essential survival tools, orienteering, forest stewardship, and leave-no-trace outdoorsmanship. All necessary equipment will be provided. Safe, resourceful, environmentally friendly exploration will be emphasized. Outdoorsmanship and Wilderness Survival Skills is not a prerequisite for this course, though taking both courses will offer the most comprehensive experience. Open to students entering grades 6-8.
