Orienteering and Survival Skills

Basic Orienteering and Survival Skills
Are you adventurous, outdoor-oriented, and ready to test your exploration skills? Orienteering will improve your knowledge of geography and practical navigation, while enhancing your physical fitness, decision-making skills, and alertness. We’ll start with the basics of navigation using maps and compass and test our new skills on GA’s 200-acre campus, in local parks, and on actual orienteering courses! We’ll also become familiar with elementary survival skills, including basic emergency first aid, poison ivy and tick-avoidance, sheltering skills and simple shelter building, water purification, fire building, and compass navigation.
